Fury Country Hunter R/T Review

Fury Country Hunter R/T Review - StickItImage 1553447289368It’s been about four months since I found the Fury Off Road Country Hunter R/T Tires and decided to put them on the website.  I’ve had a couple customers buy them and the Country Hunter M/T with excellent feedback from all of them.  So when it came to putting new shoes on the Crossed Industries/Cross Bone Outfitters Silverado, I decided to go with them.  One of the key factors was the four year with no mileage warranty.  I put a lot of miles on that Silverado and 65,000 mile warranties are usually passed up quickly by me.  Another reason I was looking into them over the usual trends of great tire like the Nitto Grapplers or Toyo series is that Fury Off Road is a fairly new company.  Founded in 2015, they are fairly new in the off road scene and I am intrigued by new companies.  Especially small American companies like Fury Off Road who is based in a small town in Texas.

When I initially received the tires I was impressed with the ruggedness of the design.  The R/T isn’t meant to be the most aggressive tire available, but they are definitely built for Rough Terrain.  Some of the details within the tread design themselves show that a lot of thought was put into the construction of these tires and the end user getting the most out of them was definitely in the thought process of the designers.  To be honest, I have long shied away from aggressive tires on my truck.  This is because of the gas mileage reduction and noise you get from most of the rugged tires out there.  Now to say the least, I originally had Goodyear Eagles on my truck when I bought it.  Those are pretty much exclusively street tires.  So noise on the road was not much I experienced at all.  Then I upgraded to Goodyear Wrangler A/T, but still essentially a street tire with some off road capabilities built in.  The Fury took a little getting used to for me as the drive has a dull hum going down the road.  However, it’s not distracting and it’s not overly noticeable.  I assume I will forget the hum even exists after a few days of having the tires on the truck.

Fury Country Hunter R/T Review - 0325190742 HDR 01It has been years since I’ve had the right tires to do some serious mudding alone, so on my way back from the shop I stopped at a local mudding hole in Homestead to do a quick mud check on the tires.  They performed excellently.  On purpose I went as much in 2WD as I possibly could.  This way I could get an understanding on just what the added difference was.  It wasn’t until I was in a good 12 inches of thick clay that I finally bogged down in 2WD and shifted into 4WD Low.  As soon as that Chevy began to crawl all four tires, there was no stopping her.  We crawled right through the worst of the muck and made it out without any traction issues Fury Country Hunter R/T Review - 0325191634 HDR 01whatsoever.  Now, this was just a simple test and not in the deepest mud around.  However, it was enough for me to know these tires are legit and I feel like I definitely made the right choice here.  We’ll get a full grip on how well they tow and I will be doing a test on some steep and less than desirable ramps in the Everglades to really see how well they perform where it matters most to many of us.  On unimproved ramps getting to those little green fish we all love to chase.  There is one ramp in particular on the way to Key Largo that

I have become accustomed to needing 4WD to not spin my wheels and pepper the hull of the boat (YES I KNOW, I NEED SOME ROCK TAMERS OF MY OWN!).  That ramp will be the litmus test for the angler application of the Fury Off Road Country Hunter R/T.  Check them out here at Crossed Industries to see their load capacities and sizes they’re offered in.
