Fury Off Road Country Hunter R/T 5000 Mile Review

If you have been following us since March, you have been able to read my initial review on the Fury Off Road Country Hunter R/T tires that I chose to put on the Crossed Industries/Cross Bone Outfitters Silverado.  I put them on at roughly 139,500 miles and have since taken the truck to 145,345 miles.  There’s been quite a bit of highway towing and off road ramps being used in South Florida this spring.  Since then I figured I owed you a 5000 mile review.

So the good on the tires, they remain quiet as advertised – which is AWESOME.  I can go live in Facebook and use the integrated Bluetooth in the Chevrolet MyLink and nobody is the wiser to the aggressive off road nature of the tires.  Then they tow very well.  The Bass Cat Puma FTD has been an easy haul for these tires, but for a roughly 3,500 to 4,000 lbs payload, if it wasn’t it would be a HUGE problem.  Finally, the wet/dry traction is outstanding, especially on unimproved roads and ramps.  Four wheel drive is no longer needed to get out of most of the ramps I use thanks to these tires.

The best test of them was about a five mile road to a fish camp on the shore of Kissimmee Lake.  The night we had our banquet for the Po Boy’s Veteran’s Benefit Tournament at the camp Florida happened and it decided to DUMP on us.  The ride back to Rte 60 was a wet a muddy one with some major puddles in the dirt road.  The traction of these tires was absolutely outstanding.  I remember when I was a kid and was first introduced to how good the traction on a BF Goodrich All-Terrain Tire was.  This was that on steroids.  Seriously, I was able to hold 35 to 40 miles an hour and feel like I was crawling down the path to keep it safe.  Never hydroplaning over the puddles, and maintaining grip with all four tires throughout the trip without the back end slipping at any time.  I purposely did this without the auto all-wheel drive option on to see just how good the traction really was, and it did not disappoint.

As you can see in these shots, even with just over 5,000 miles, the wear on the tires is even throughout.  They still look new and still have the small sticks of rubber sticking out of the sidewalls.  For those of us who spend a lot of time on the road, these are proving to be the next go to tires.
